Introduction
Run for women by women and their families in Tower Hamlets, the Women’s Inclusive Team (WIT) was founded in 2003 by local mothers seeking a supportive space to connect. As community needs evolved — particularly among Black Somali women and the wider BAMER community — WIT grew into a respected charity delivering vital services in London’s East End.
WIT now empowers women, children, and young people through training, employment support, early years provision, advice, food support, and a wide youth programme delivered across the Mayfield Hub and Chicksand Preschool. Since the pandemic, WIT has been recognised for its crucial role supporting vulnerable families and was named the Number One Medium Charity of 2026.
We are now seeking a committed Young People’s Projects Lead to oversee the delivery and development of the Hiddo Girls Programme, Maangaar SEND Project, Schools Project, and Chicksand Preschool activities.
Context of the Role
Since the pandemic, WIT has delivered successful partnerships providing educational support, enrichment activities, mentoring, and wraparound services to over 400 children. The Hiddo Girls Programme, SEND work, and school-based projects continue to address inequalities and support academic and emotional development.
As the charity continues to grow, the Young People’s Projects Lead will drive the sustainability and enhancement of high-impact programmes for children, young people, and families. This pivotal role ensures consistent delivery, rigorous safeguarding compliance, and measurable outcomes across all youth projects. WIT views this as a strategic investment in the next generation.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Programme Delivery
Lead the delivery of all young people’s services: Hiddo Girls, Maangaar SEND Project, Schools Project, and Chicksand Preschool activities.
Ensure that Chicksand recruitment and other KPIs are met
Design creative, relevant, and impactful timetables shaped by the needs and interests of local young people.
Ensure all sessions are delivered safely, professionally, and to a high standard.
Bring in role models, facilitators, and speakers who inspire and reflect the community.
Support the development and visibility of the overall Young People’s Project.
Ensure we meet all OFSTED requirements, and ensure we work towards good/outstanding outcomes.
Team Management
Recruit, induct, supervise, and support staff, volunteers, tutors, and facilitators.
Provide regular team meetings, one-to-ones, and clear communication of expectations.
Ensure consistent adherence to safeguarding and WIT values.
Partnerships & Engagement
Build strong relationships with local schools, youth partners, community organisations, and SEND services.
Represent WIT professionally and positively.
Identify opportunities that support long-term outcomes for local young people.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
Produce monthly reports on KPIs, attendance, outcomes, and case studies.
Maintain accurate and secure records for all beneficiaries.
Act as a data champion, contributing to WIT’s monitoring and evaluation systems.
Lead on reporting for funders, the Director of Services, CEO, and Trustees.
Operational & Financial Duties
Monitor income and expenditure for youth projects.
Contribute to budget planning and attend management account meetings.
Process payments and expenses in line with WIT policies.
Oversee referral processes and ensure appropriate progression pathways.
Support wider organisation operations where needed.
Safeguarding
Raise safeguarding concerns promptly in line with policies.
Ensure all staff and volunteers understand and fulfil safeguarding responsibilities.
Development & Sustainability
Develop new project proposals that strengthen the sustainability of youth provision.
Support the fundraising team with ideas and information for bids.
Continually review and improve youth programmes.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a management or senior project lead role.
Experience implementing safeguarding in children’s or youth settings.
Understanding of monitoring, reporting, and quality standards.
Staff management
Degree education or equivalent experience.
Desirable
Experience in youth work, school-based or community programmes.
Experience in leading OFSTED inspections
SEND experience or inclusive practice knowledge.
Speaking local languages
Lived experience or strong local community understanding.
